This collection of short poems is inspired by Japanese traditional haiku and zen poetry, and the romantic influences of the Heian classical work: The Tale of Genji (Genji monogatari) by Murasaki Shikibu, a court lady of the early 11th century. Each poem in this book was written by the author to capture the essence of a fleeting moment, in the manner in which a camera captures an image -- carefully chosen words conveying the transience of beauty in nature, the overwhelming effect of an emotion or the poignant recollection of the memory of a loved one. This deeply personal work explores themes such as unrequited love, changing seasons, and the divide between living in the city while longing for the peacefulness of nature, home and countryside.
