Black-and-white images of Dean's personal photos and original artwork accompany many of the stories.

Originally from Titusville, New Jersey, Dean bounced up, down, and around the Midwest before settling in Springfield, Missouri, in the mid-90s. Since retiring from his 40-year career with the Boy Scouts, he is enjoying grandparenthood while continuing to fish, paint, and spin tales both tall and true.
