Coy decides to have some fun at a calf roping jackpot up in Trinity, Colorado. He has an accident on his way and is flown to a trauma center In Colorado Springs where he is put into an induced coma.

Judith finds it hard to breathe when the highway patrolman tells her of the wreck. She rushes to his side where she stays day and night. Awakened by the sweet fragrance of a woman's perfume, she rushes to the door in time to see Darlene McDaniels enter the elevator at the end of the hall. She is taken aback at the look of defiance on the woman's face when Darlene turns to glare at her with tear filled eyes.

After Coy's full recovery Judith never forgets Darlene's hospital visit. She notices how nice her husband is to Jesse, Darlene's daughter. Was she Coy's child? Time passes and Judith is stricken by cancer which ultimately takes her life. She never knows the truth.

Since the day in the hospital, Darlene hasn't stopped pursuing Coy. After losing his wife, will she capture his heart and finally lead him to the alter? Or will finding out the truth about his accident change his life forever?
