The Scriptures declare that when one believes in Jesus Christ is given power to become a child of God (John 1:12). This same John in his first epistle writes that, even if we are now called God's children, it is not yet fully know what we will be when Jesus Christ will be revealed in His glory. But having hope of the future glory, children of God look forward to it and keep themselves pure while they live in this temporal abode (1 John 3:2). We know that it is an impossible mission for a believer to be pure in this world, because the world is fallen, and it is full of temptation.
