Annie's father Richard is a doctor. Annie's mother Ava is a stay at home mother. Annie's best friends, Nancy, Arte and Drew all attend the same Catholic School. When Annie is invited to Nancy's graduation party, she meets the handsome Andrew. Andrew is known as a playboy. Annie however is swept off her feet by Andrew's charms. Annie's parents don't approve of Andrew. Annie runs away to be with Andrew. In California, a boy named Sonny, a man that would change Annie's life is going through a battle of his own. His grandparents are murdered and he is left to die in a fire. In Book 2, Beautiful Ashes, Andrew's true personally is uncovered leaving Annie and her son Prince running for their life.
