Organosilicon Compounds

In this book, the synthesis of the organosilicon compounds is briefly outlined where they are not naturally occurring and must be prepared. Moreover, the main features of the organosilicon chemistry are also discussed. The growing utility of many classes of organosilicon compounds like, allylsilanes, vinylsilanes, alkyl- silanes, silyl ethers and others in the synthesis of some natural products, drugs and biologically active compounds of pharmaceutical and commercial importance is represented. In future, from the continued development in organosilicon chemistry, some natural products in which a given carbon atom is replaced by a substituted silicon atom could be synthesized. Many of these silylated natural products may be with more and/or comparable activities to that of the parent carbon compounds. It seems also that the next coming years will explore the formation of many silylated pharmaceuticals with clinical evaluations and additional insight into their metabolism and reaction pathways.
