Complex research of the data of numismatic, epigraphic, ethnographic and toponymic-linguistic materials in addition to the information of medieval textual sources allowed us to conclude, that the high ancestor of the S?m?nids S?m?n-Khud?t was the Turkic of origin and as his ancestor Bahr?m Ch?b?n belonged to the Iranized Oghuz tribes of Khur?s?n (Balkh). From another line his origin was connected with the Ash?na clan, the ruling dynasty of the Great Turkic Qaghanate. The second homeland of S?m?n- Khud?t was Fargh?na valley, where Bahr?m Ch?b?n settled in the last period of his life. S?m?n- Khud?t was descendant of Bahr?m Ch?b?n from his marriage with the Turkic princess ? the daughter of the Turkic ruler of Bukh?r? and Supreme Turkic Qaghan El- Tig?n (Parm?da, Nil?-Kh?n), the son of El Arsl?n (Sh?r-i Kishwar, S?wa-Sh?h) and grandson of Tardu Qaghan (Qar? Ch?r?n).
