The present work is a study of current ways of creating blend words or as they are sometimes referred to - "portmanteau words" and "telescopic words". This way of word formation has proved to be one of the most active and productive ways of shortening, typical of the modern English language. This work is designed for the BA, MA and PhD students of the department of Linguistics, also for general public interested in various processes of present-day English language vocabulary development.
