Non-invasive Methods of Muscle Fibre Type Determination: Investigation of Skeletal Muscle Metabolism in Athletes Dominik Pesta

The discovery of different fibre types in skeletal muscle has led to the ambitious goal of both coaches and sportsmen to gain insight into the muscle fibre type distribution of individual athletes. For this purpose, normally a muscle biopsy sample is needed. Investigation of muscle metabolism and fibre types, however, is also possible by non-invasive methods. The potential methods for investigation of muscle metabolism and muscle fibre types will be discussed in detail in this work.
