Liquid crystals enjoy a wide range of technological applications, perhaps the best-known being the LCD, or liquid crystal display. When combined with polymeric materials the resulting solutions have a range of physical properties not present in either material alone and this coupling imparts useful properties such as novel electro-optic switching combined with easy processability. This book explores the relationships between polymers and liquid crystals through experimental investigations of their solutions.
