Jade and James are both fleeing from violence when their lives collide one rainy night. They find themselves traveling together, mutually dependent upon one another while trying to figure out where to go and what to do. When James' injuries force Jade to take him to the ER the police become involved. James could find himself facing criminal charges, but it's the charges that will be brought against Jade that threaten to wrench the pair apart. Three years later, Jade returns to Brunswick, newly released from jail and trying to cope with the uncertainties in her life. James welcomes her back, but they've both changed. Jade is a lost soul. James has found stability in his life. Will they beat the odds and survive as a couple, or will the damage Jade has suffered destroy the promise of a continuing relationship?
