Most kids are familiar with the seahorse, but a lot are not aware that there is a species of seahorse known as Pygmy Seahorse.



The Pygmy Seahorse is really small (pygmy means small or tiny) - in fact, it's one of the smallest types of seahorses. It measures only about an inch in height.



As for their color, this can vary among the different species of Pygmy Seahorses. The most common colors come in the shades of gray and purple, with either pink or red tubercles. Tubercles are small tube-like bumps on the bodies of Pygmy Seahorses.



There are also Pygmy Seahorses that are colored yellow. This species usually comes with orange tubercles. This species of seahorse can change their colors to blend in with their environment. That's the reason they can have different shades and colors.
