The Young Money star is rolling out the "official" lead single off her sophomore set. In contrast to street singles Roman in Moscow and Stupid Hoe, Starships finds Minaj hewing closer to the dance-pop formula of her previous hits, with RedOne serving up a synth-soaked, four-on-the-floor beat as the artist delivers breezy sung/chanted verses (shades of Katy Perry, with a dash of Ke$ha on the side). Lyrically, she takes an equally crowd-pleasing approach, blending breezy images of beach/club revelry with hedonistic exhortations to have a good time: "F*ck who you want, and f*ck who you like / Dance your whole life, there's no end in sight." It's certainly catchy, and is filling up the dance floors whatever country you go to! A Must have for the collection!
