James Teej's superb Fundamental EP gets the remix treatment from some of the hottest producers around…. When My Favorite Robot Records released James Teej's 'Fundamental EP' early this year it became an instant success for the label and was put into heavy rotation by the likes of Soul Clap, Laurent Garnier, Paul Woolford and the Horse Meat Disco crew. Now Teej's winning cuts have been served up to some of the hottest producers around to provide a selection of new takes on these standout tracks. First up we have Burnt Island Casuals AKA Graeme Clark (The Revenge) and Harri who get to grips with the awesome 'Three Light Years'. The duo strip things back and turn in a looped and rolling affair that feels something close to techno disco, a great reworking that breathes new life into this excellent original. Next up Teej produces his own 'Redux' of 'Don't Appear', turning in a sultry and melodic cut that uses tightly cropped vocal samples, atmospheric pads and a superb warm bassline to create a rich piece of slo-mo house. The third mix sees Phonogenic return to the My Favorite Robot label to remix 'Anything Right' and in doing so delivers a real highlight, a dark and hypnotic tech vocal workout that is hugely compelling, Finally we have Michael J Collins' version of 'Don't Appear' which draws on Eighties electronica and house and provides a brilliant mid tempo jackin' anthem that is sure to be winner. This is a superb package from the My Favorite Robot team and a timely one as it marks the label's move into the vinyl market under their new distribution deal with Kompakt. 2011 is looking like a great year for Canadian music and at the head of that charge is the My Favorite Robot imprint. James Teej's 'Fundamental Remixed' is released on My Favorite Robot in January 2011. Brett Johnson "Well, well, well….what do we have here? Another scorcher from MFR perhaps? Three Light Years To Home and all the remixes are ace bizness ya'll" Seth Troxler "Phonogenic mix is just killing
