Pressed on delectable white vinyl, this 7” is an upfront limited physical release of “Beautiful Trash”, due out as a digital single on 7th February 2011. “Beautiful Trash” is the first big single from the upcoming Lanu album, ‘Her 12 Faces’ (out March) and features the unique talents of Gold-selling singer/songwriter Megan Washington, whose recent debut album of idiosyncratic, dramatic indie pop under the name Washington went Gold and shot to no. 1 in the album charts on its release in her native Australia. The B Side, “Der Hotel Blume”, is a beautiful Lanu track - ‘70s Euro influences given a twist with a sitar line and a dreamy vocalised hook - which will be appearing on the album but receives an exclusive vinyl release here. “Beautiful Trash” is accompanied by a cute but killer animated video clip by celebrated director and Australian ‘national treasure’, Lucy Dyson. Lanu is the solo alias of the prolific Lance Ferguson, leader of acclaimed Australian funk band The Bamboos, whose fourth album came out in March 2010 to incredible reviews and major UK radio support, and has sold over 15,000 copies this year.
