Silver Ponds / the Wonder Figurines

Acclaimed in the US last year for their beautiful and raw 2nd album 'Skeleton' and their tours with Tapes 'n Tapes and Cold War Kids, Denmark's Figurines are the first signing to Ben Watt's brand new label, and sister to Buzzin' Fly, Strange Feeling Records - a home to alt-indie and electronic pop. The original mixes of both 'Silver Ponds' and 'The Wonder' are three-minute blasts of fresh and wonderful wonky pop with shades of The Strokes, Pavement, Mercury Rev and early Neil Young poking out of every joyous riff. In counter-balance, label boss Ben Watt offers his first major club mixes for nearly two years, and rather than his familiar deep house signature, offers two sublime contemporary tripped-out Balearic rides drawing on 70's German 'Motorik' grooves, Neu!-esque psychedelia, and clipped modern techno-disco
