There are many ways to celebrate a musical anniversary: there’s reissues, tours, and even throwing your own festival. To celebrate 15 years together, Alkaline Trio is hitting the road, as well as putting out a greatest hits album, titled Damnesia, featuring all new tracks. No, that’s not a contradiction. The Illinoisan pop-punk band has put together a collection à la The Cure’s Greatest Hits/Acoustic Hits, selecting 12 fan-favorite tracks in addition to creating brand new recordings. Instead of going purely acoustic, however, “the band shows their musical prowess and takes wider arrangements and broader instrumentation” to re-envision the songs. Also included on the compilation is a cover of the Violent Femmes’ “I Held Her in My Arms” and two completely fresh tracks, “Olde English 800” and “I Remember a Rooftop.”
