Night Lights Gerry Mulligan Audiophile edition
Night Lights
Gerry Mulligan
Audiophile edition
“Night Lights” is an album by legendary American baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan featuring recordings from 1963, originally released by Philips and later by Verve. This romantic and atmospheric masterpiece is considered one of the highlights of modern mainstream jazz. The calm, samba-accented beats and the sharp jazz flirtation with bossa nova find just the right temperature with Mulligan. Chopin's “Prelude In E Minor” is a real surprise! “Night Lights” was recorded on September 12 and October 3, 1963, at Nola Penthouse Studios in New York City. Hal Mooney served as producer. The band accompanying Mulligan – Jim Hall (guitar), Art Farmer (flugelhorn), Bob Brookmeyer (trombone), Bill Crow (bass) and Dave Bailey (drums) – can only be described as “premium”!
