Recorded during his five year stint as a member of Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All-Stars, Levey is joined on these recordings by then-unknown pianist Sonny Clark, trumpeter Conte Condoli, bassist Leroy Vinnegar, and tenorist Richie Kamuca, Although his name is on the cover of the album, Levey is very seldom the center of attention. He drives each song with uncommon grace, yet allows the other players to step into the spotlight with a series of remarkable solos.
