When the American musician John Fahey released an album under the moniker Blind Joe Death in 1959, many connoisseurs considered it a sensational discovery of early American folk music.

If you listen to the debut album of The Düssseldorf Düsterboys 60 years later, you might well think it was a rediscovered treasure of folk music, too.

In fact it is the latest work by Peter Rubel and Pedro Goncalves Crescenti, who many music lovers in Germany are familiar with as the unmistakable voices of the band International Music. Their debut album "Die besten Jahre" (April 2018) is considered by many to be the strongest German-tongue record of recent years.

Now we find "Nenn mich Musik", the long awaited debut album of The Düsseldorf Düsterboys, which Peter and Pedro founded as a duo long before International Music. To make the confusion with their different band identities perfect, the duo teamed up with Edis Ludwig on drums and Fabian Neubauer on organ and piano and have declared The Düsseldorf Düsterboys a quartet now. Again producer Olaf O. P. A. L. has staged them extremely well. Especially when a bunch of woodwind instruments occasionally join the band on the recordings: What a sound! The Düsterboys call it plain and simple: music.
