He was always “interested in music where jazz meets pop and pop meets classical music” and that’s what he implemented. Instead of like “The Police” mixing pop with rock and punk elements, he combines elements from pop, jazz , classical music, folk, country and reggae in his music. He changes from the bass guitar to the guitar temporarily and already his debut “The Dream Of The Blues Turtles” (1985) received a triple platinum award. In 1987 Sting releases with “Nothing Like The Sun” one of the most significant albums of the 1980s. In the 1990s he receives more platinum awards and multiple Grammy awards. In 1991 the release of “The Soul Cages” started the beginning of a long-lasting collaboration with the soulful virtuoso Dominic Miller. Sting doesn’t want to play without his “right and left hand” (Sting about Dominic Miller) anymore. For the 1994 release of his Best Of album “Fields Of Gold” he tours with a small line up around the world.
