A reminder of the story: 1962: Coltrane replaces bassist Reginald Workman by Jimmy Garrison. Dolphy leaves Coltrane to carry out his own projects (february). Coltrane gives up trying to find a replacement. His new Quartet for the next four years, will dynamite the world of jazz. Coltrane second european tour as a leader is scheduled at the end of a year which saw the birth of four absolutely unconventional albums in the history of jazz: COLTRANE (A21) ELLINGTON & COLTRANE (A30) BALLADS (A32) IMPRESSIONS (A42).
