Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood Phonomatiq

A pet project of Billy Paul Williams, who for decades has been one of the most creative producers on the dance music scene, Phonomatiq creates loungey, jazz influenced takes on modern pop songs. Originally conceived as a singles project, six singles wil be released before the project is expanded into a full-length album. Comparisons have been drawn to Post Modern Jukebox, although Phonomatiq takes that blueprint to an entirely new level. Simply put, Phonomatiq sets a new standard for sophisticated lounge music at it's finest. Presented here is one of the six single releases, a thoroughly modern take of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," a huge pop hit for The Animals in 1963, and a huge disco hit for Santa Esmeralda in 1977.
