"Talking about my compositions is not necessary because all my composition are happening while I am playing the guitar. I don't compose like classical composers. I am searching for the vibe at that moment. I don't use composition embellishment techniques.' Cenk studied guitar technique and expression styles with Kamil Özler, Neset Ruacan and Sevket Akinci, and jazz composition and arrangement techniques with Aydin Esen, Ali Perret, Can Kozlu and Kamil Özler.He studied classical composition with Kent Mete. Since 2003, he has worked on the production of TV and movie soundtracks. In 2008 he recorded his first album "ILE", which was produced by Sinan Sakizli within Baykus Music. The same year, with Aria, he composed and arranged the soundtrack for the movie "Issiz Adam" which won the Yesilçam "Soundtrack of the Year 2009" prize. In 2009 the Cenk Erdogan Trio played in the 16th Istanbul Jazz Festival, the Salzburg Music Fest, Bayreuth Young Artists Fest, and Bonn Summer Fest. In 2010 he played in the Turkophony All -Stars festival with Trilok Gurtu and Doninique di Piazza, and in 2011 he again played in the festival with Dave Weckl, Kai Eckhardt and Eric levy. Cenk is now busy composing and arranging television and movie soundtracks and giving concerts with the Cenk Erdogan Trio. Fretless guitar: The youngest member of the guitar family, still developing and open to experimentation. The way I perceive the fretless guitar has to do with my roots. The Anatolia region of Turkey can be regarded as a land of wars, migrations and love - probably the reason why Turkish makams always feel blue. Fretless guitar inspires someone like me, who has studied jazz but has not forgotten his origins. One of my ideals is to further develop this instrument, which enables a musician to play almost all kinds of ethnic music with ease. Speaking in the language of fretless guitar, and nothing other than that, will enable me to underscore the relations between the East and the West...... Cenk Erdogan.
