Shillelagh Sisters
The Shillelagh Sisters were the only all-female band (well, almost - Polecats/Morrissey guitarist Boz Boorer was the single male 'Sister') to chart in the early 80s Rockabilly revival. Their 'Give Me My Freedom' and 'Passion Fruit' singles were released on CBS and for a short time the Sisters were hot news on the live circuit and regulars on TV and Radio. After they parted company with CBS, Boz revived the band to record 'Tyrannical Mex' - and absolute cracker of an album. Pure '50s Rockabilly with raunchy vocals and stripped down backing of just guitar, drums and upright bass. This is the Shillelagh Sisters at their raw best - without the commercial production of their major label outings, reminiscent of Janis Martin's classic 1950s recordings.
