Little Flowers Mary Dolan
Little Flowers
Mary Dolan
Cutting her teeth in the now prominent San Diego music scene, Mary Dolan established herself as a musical force to be reckoned with. In clubs and coffeehouse alike, Mary's rich and soulful voice won over diverse audiences and showcased her insatiable work ethic and infectious stage presence. That presence has been absent from the music scene for the last three years as Dolan took much needed time off to reflect and re-evaluate her life, both professionally and personally. Out of that self-imposed sabbatical has come her first CD in four years Little Flowers. It is quite a departure from her last CD, Long Way From Home, released in 2000. This home-grown, honest collection of songs reflects the introspection of the last three years. Dolan draws the inspiration for this new work from her admiration for St.Therese of Lisieux, also known as 'The Little Flower'. She lived each day with an unshakeable confidence in God's love. 'What matters in life,'Therese wrote, 'is not great deeds, but great love.' This is the life that Mary Dolan aspires to and tries to emulate in her own day-to-day existence though she says 'I'm not a saint in any sense.' Her songs convey a message of peace and trust in the divine.
