Power of Three Michel Petrucciani Blue Note Tone Poet Series edition
Power of Three
Michel Petrucciani
Blue Note Tone Poet Series edition
In 1985, the miraculous French pianist Michel Petrucciani signed with a newly relaunched Blue Note Records and recorded his label debut Pianism, an album that underscored the arrival a distinctive new talent. His second Blue Note release, Power of Three, presented Petrucciani in a duo with guitarist Jim Hall and a trio that added saxophonist Wayne Shorter. Recorded live at the 1986 Montreux Jazz Festival, the album captured a magical evening of music-making by three virtuosos. The five-song LP features the trio on a trio of originals—Shorter's 'Limbo,' Petrucciani's 'Morning Blues,' and Hall's 'Bimini'—while the duo is heard on Hall's 'Careful' and a stunning version of Ellington's 'In a Sentimental Mood.'
Blue Note's Tone Poet Series represents the pinnacle of jazz reissues for anyone who appreciates pristine audio. Mastered by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) from the original analog master tapes. Pressed on 180g audiophile vinyl at RTI and presented in deluxe tip-on jackets.
