The Queen Mini Series Movie

This lavish five-part drama chronicles five periods in the life of Queen Elizabeth II, with a different actress portraying the monarch in each episode. The first installment, set in 1955, focuses on the Queen's relationship with Princess Margaret and stars Emilia Fox (DORIAN GRAY); the second, set in 1974, revisits a kidnap attempt on Princess Anne and stars Samantha Bond (DIE ANOTHER DAY); the tension between her majesty and prime minister Margaret Thatcher in 1986 is the basis for the third episode, starring Susan Jameson (NEW TRICKS); Barbara Flynn (CRANFORD) plays the Queen during her 'annus horribilis' in 1992 when Prince Charles announced his separation from Princess Diana; and finally Diana Quick (BRIDESHEAD REVISITED) takes the role for the concluding episode, in which Charles' 2005 marriage to Camilla rouses memories of the Abdication crisis that brought the Queen's father to the throne in 1936.
