Collection of documentaries directed by Bill Morrison. 'Decasia' (2002) explores archive footage of silent films and consists of decaying and partially erased nitrate-based prints. 'Spark of Being' (2010) is a retelling of Mary Shelley's classic story 'Frankenstein' using found-footage sourced from numerous archives around the world.
'The Great Flood' (2012) focuses on the flooding of the Mississippi river that occurred in 1927, the most destructive river flood in US history. The impact of the event is explored as it forced many displaced black sharecroppers to migrate north, taking with them the beginnings of many new musical genres. 'Light is Calling' (2004) and 'The Mesmerist' (2003) are reprinted and edited scenes from 'The Bells' (1926), accompanied by compositions from Michael Gordon.
