All 23 episodes of the ITV drama starring Christopher Blake and Muriel Odunton as a mixed-race couple whose relationship evokes disapproval from both their families. Thomas Simpson (Blake), a young engineer, and Susan Lambert (Odunton), a social worker, couldn't be happier with each other. Pleased with their engagement, they take each other to meet their families - which is where the problems start.

Both sets of parents are uncomfortable with the relationship and insist that the marriage can't and won't work. With the help of Thomas's Aunt Dorothy (Joan Sanderson) - the only member of either family who actually seems happy for them - the couple set out to prove them wrong and make a success of the relationship.
