When scuffling WWII returnee Chuck Scott (Robert Cummings) fell into a chauffeur's job with sadistic Miami gangster Eddie Roman (Steve Cochrane), he became the shoulder to cry on for the thug's abused wife Lorna (Michèle Morgan).
