R. E. M. are one of the major success stories in college rock history. The Athens, Georgia quartet build up a huge fan base on the 1980's college circuit, and broke through to incredible mainstream success in the early 1990's. TOURFILM was filmed in 1989, during the band's GREEN tour. It captures the boys as they are poised to breakthrough to a wider audience, and finds them with a youthful energy and decidedly alternative mindset. Of an excellent set of seventeen songs, "Pop Song 89," "Stand," "The One I Love," and "Finest Worksong" are highlights.
