The original Rock Band took the Guitar Hero formula and applied it to an entire band setup, with drums and mics both in tow for a complete band experience. Rock Band 2 takes that strong formula and moves it forward, giving players more features, more songs and newly improved instruments, now quieter and more durable. Battle of the Bands and Tour Challenges give players a wide selection of new tasks to tackle with friends, and a new Rock Shop lets players buy clothing, instruments and tattoos for their on-screen persona.

Accommodating the more casual player, Rock Band 2 is now far more open-ended for new musicians. No-Fail mode lets players work their way through a song without worrying about losing, so musicians of any experience can now play together. The titles track list is as strong as ever, with songs from the likes of AC/DC, Red Hot Chili peppers, Rage Against the Machine and Pearl Jam.

Rock Band 2 improves on its strong foundations, but still gives players the party-friendly, laid back feel that made the original such a fantastic multiplayer title.
