Alice's Adventures Under Ground (Annotated)
Lewis Carroll
Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the time-The purpose of realizing this historical context is to approach the understanding of a historical epoch from the elements provided by the text. Hence the importance of placing the document in context. It is necessary to unravel what its author or authors have said, how it has been said, when, why and where, always relating it to its historical moment. Alice's Adventures Under Ground is the title that British writer, mathematician, logician and priest Anglican Lewis Carroll used to gather the extravagant stories told to a reverend friend of hers and to the three Liddell sisters, during a break from a boat excursion through the Thames River. The stories revolved around Alicia, a character presumably inspired by Alice Liddell, second of the three sisters, who was ten years old when the stories were first told. The oral account occurred on July 4, 1862, while the group took a break during the walk due to the prevailing heat, and took refuge for a few hours under the shade of haystacks near Godstow, in England. Years later, this work was the foundation for Carroll's most famous work, The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland. According to the testimony that Liddell gave in 1892, she was so impressed with the account the day of the excursion that that same day she insisted on Dodgson to write it.
