The Invisible Man, a science fiction novel by HG Wells, published in 1897. The story is about the life and death of a scientist named Griffin who has lost his mind. Having learned to make himself invisible, Griffin begins to use his invisibility for nefarious purposes, including murder. When he is finally killed, his body is visible again. A mysterious man, Griffin, known as 'the stranger', arrives at the local inn owned by Mr and Mrs Hall in the English town of Iping, West Sussex, during a snowstorm. The stranger wears a thick long-sleeved coat and gloves, his face is completely covered by bandages except for a prosthetic nose, and he wears a wide-brimmed hat. He is excessively lonely, irascible, unfriendly, and introverted. He demands to be left alone and spends most of his time in his rooms working with a set of chemicals and laboratory equipment, only venturing out at night. He also causes many accidents, but when Mrs. Hall takes care of this, the stranger angrily demands to include it on his bill. While Griffin is staying at the inn, hundreds of strange glass bottles arrive. Many locals think this is very strange. He becomes the talk of the town with many theorizing about his origins.
