The Sea Wolf

A key event in the story is an attempted mutiny against Wolf Larsen by various members of the crew. The organizers of the riot are Leach and Johnson. Johnson had previously been beaten severely by Larsen, and Leach had been beaten before while he was being forced to become a boat shooter, which motivated the two of them. The first attempt is to send Larsen overboard; however, he manages to get back on the ship. Looking for his assailant, he ventures into the bedrooms, located below the main deck, the only exit being a staircase. Several, at least seven men, participate in the mutiny and attack Larsen. However, Larsen, demonstrating his inhuman stamina, strength, and conviction, manages to break through the crew, climbs the ladder with several men hanging from him, and escapes relatively unscathed. Van Weyden is promoted as a partner, because the original partner had been killed. Later, Larsen gets revenge on him by torturing his crew and constantly stating that he is going to assassinate Leach and Johnson ASAP, as the hunting season is over, as he cannot afford to lose any crew. He later allows them to get lost at sea when they try to flee in a hunting boat.
