Jedidiah Blackerby is a late nineteenth century patent medicine salesman who traded the contents of his wagon to a stranger for a time machine. He decides to make his fortune selling moonshine in to the proprietor of a speakeasy in prohibition era Chicago. It isn't long before he branches out to gunrunning to the Roman Empire during the time of Marcus Aurelius, stealing treasure from pirates and trying to sell the coins to coin collectors in the middle of the 21st century. Soon his companions include a Jesuit priest, cops from the 21st century, and mobsters from the early 20th, while one of the mobster's nieces falls in love with the priest.
