The original subtitle was "Breaking out of beginner nutrition and pathophysiology." This book covers intermediate to advanced topics in nutrition, and correlates with disease prevention. The more you understand nutrition, the more you will want the 100% whole food, plant based, low fat, low salt diet. That's the best diet for humans. This book explains why. You don't need to count calories. You just need to eat healthy foods, and body weight will improve. Epidemiology shows that people who eat this way are skinny, and relatively healthy. This book is for people who are serious about trying to improve their health. Dr Rogers recommends no oil, no caffeine, minimal sodium, no alcohol, no junk food, no meat (that means no dairy, fish, or eggs). Dr Rogers is interested in optimizing physical and mental performance. He was student athlete of the year at Stanford, had 99% board scores in medical school and residency, and then did a fellowship in interventional radiology (imaging guided surgery) at Harvard with the emphasis on vascular disease. Later a fellowship in neuroradiology.
