While Mineral Wells is legendary for the mineral water's healing properties, stronger offerings once flowed from Hill House. Bootleggers, prostitutes, card sharks, and outlaws have all called Hill House home. Built-in 1890 for one of the Founding Families, the home later became a makeshift hospital. Native Americans frequented the caves here known as East Mountain, where it is rumored the outlaw Sam Bass hid his gold and a jewel thief lost his life. Take time to sit and deal a hand of cards with the long-dead in the Scratcher Room. Due to high activity levels, the home has become a world-renowned paranormal site.
