The historical context refers to the circumstances and incidents surrounding an event. This context is formed by everything that, in some way, influences the event when it happens. A fact is always tied to its time: that is, to its characteristics. Therefore, when analyzing events that took place tens, hundreds or thousands of years ago, it is essential to know the historical context to understand them. Otherwise, we would be analyzing and judging what happened in a totally different era with a current perspective. Although there is a consensus among scholars regarding the establishment of an affiliation between Hume and experimental philosophy, important divergences prevail when determining the object of study of the "science of human nature," as well as establishing the reasons that legitimize the application of the experimental method to moral issues and the way in which it is carried out. We intend to clarify these three questions in order to specify in what sense Hume's experimentalism must be understood. Regarding the first, we maintain that the science of human nature not only includes the study of the mind, but also includes that of interaction within the framework of society throughout history
