In the desert, Scripture was constantly being interpreted. This interpretation is not expressed in the form of comments and homilies, but in actions and gestures, in a life of holiness transformed by the monk's constant dialogue with the Scriptures. The texts do not cease to be more and more meaningful not only for those who read them and listen to them, but also for those who meet these monks who have embodied these texts in their lives. The man of God who assimilated the Word of God became a new "text", a new object of interpretation. Furthermore, it is in this context that we should understand the fact that in the desert the word of the Elder is considered with the same power as the word of Scripture.
