Since he can't make sure about a warrant as expected, Fix sheets the liner (Mongolia) passing on the voyagers to Bombay. Fix gets familiar with Passepartout without uncovering his motivation. Fogg guarantees the liner engineer a huge prize on the off chance that he gets them to Bombay early. They dock two days in front of the timetable. In the wake of arriving in India, they take a train from Bombay to Calcutta. Fogg buys an elephant, enlists a guide, and heads toward Allahabad. They run over a parade in which a youthful Indian lady, Aouda, is to go through sati. Since she is medicated with opium and hemp and is clearly not going intentionally, the explorers choose to safeguard her.
