The Murders in the Rue Morgue

The Murders in The Rue Morgue, is a tale of the detective and horror genre by the American writer Edgar Allan Poe, first published in Graham's Magazine, Philadelphia, in April 1841. It is the first story of detectives proper of the history of literature, that is, the first story about detectives that brings together all the elements that will be taken up again later as characteristic of detective novels. The barbarous murder of two women, Madame L'Espanaye and Madeimoselle Camille L'Espanaye, mother and daughter, takes place in an apartment on a crowded Paris street. The first investigations carried out by the police investigation brigade did not give any results, evidencing its impotence to clarify the facts. Eventually an amateur detective, C. Auguste Dupin, takes charge of the matter, who, after intense and brilliant investigation, offers an extraordinary explanation. Enjoy this fascinating detective story.
