The Last of the Mohicans (Annotated)
James Fenimore Cooper
Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the time-The purpose of realizing this historical context is to approach the understanding of a historical epoch from the elements provided by the text. Hence the importance of placing the document in context. It is necessary to unravel what its author or authors have said, how it has been said, when, why and where, always relating it to its historical moment. The full text of the novel has been used, with introduction and notes by James Fenimore Cooper himself, as it appears in the New American Library edition, A Signet Classic, published in New York in 1962. This edition follows the text published in 1859 by WA Townsend and Company, later chosen by the Riverside Press when it publishes the complete works of Cooper in 1870. The author's introduction in this translation is the one written by Cooper for the 1850 edition. James Fenimore CooperHe was born on September 15, 1789 in Burlington (New Jersey), although he grew up in Cooperstown, New York State, founded by his father. He studied at Yale University, and later enlisted in the Navy. He married Susan DeLancey and dedicated himself to managing his property for a few years in Wetchester County (New York).
