We met Jalal in Bringing Ethan Home. He was an orphan boy who lived in Afghanistan and helped the Marines stationed there as a translator. He was befriended by Ethan Randall who was injured severely in a roadside bomb blast. Ethan survived but felt that he was at fault for his friends and his military dog being killed. He found out that the dog had survived and was last seen running up the mountain with Jalal. In this book we find Jalal in an airplane headed for Wisconsin. He was rescued from the Taliban and is now starting a new life in America. This is Jalal's story.
