God created us for a specific purpose and has given us a manual, and within its pages we will finally understand "why am I here?" "what am I here for?" Joseph was a young man, loved and pampered by his father, to the point where his special treatment creates friction in the home. Jealousy eventually drove his brothers to sell him into slavery, but in spite of his circumstances, Joseph continues to dream big dreams. He surrendered those dreams to God, and this 'prisoner' became the first prime minister of Egypt. David was disregarded by his older brothers and was given the lowly task of taking care of his father's sheep. Mostly alone in the wilderness; his aloneness helped him to develop a relationship with the Designer. When God wanted a king, He sent Samuel to anoint David king over Israel, although he was a youth. Sara was a beautiful woman but she was barren. In her culture, being childless was a curse. In time, God visited her and made a promise that she would bear a son. Years pass by and Sarah becomes discouraged and advises her husband to get a child with another woman. When this woman got pregnant, she despised Sarah in her own home. She didn't wait on God! but after she was past the age of childbearing, God kept his word, and through her, the nation of Israel was born. Ruth came from a tribe that was greatly despised by other nations. She thought that she had an opportunity to change her circumstances when she married someone from the priestly tribe of Levi. Her husband died young, leaving this young woman with no hope. The opportunity came, and she left her homeland with her mother-in-law, and this woman that was despised, became the mother of a kingly lineage- ancestors of Jesus, the King of Kings. Moses was born at a time when his people were enslaved and it was commanded that every male child that was. born was to be thrown in the river, but the very thing that was meant for his destruction became the vehicle for the deliverance of a nation. These all found their purpose, in spite of the adverse circumstances that they faced.
