At the printing of this book, there are 37 women leading Fortune 500 companies. This is an improvement from the previous year of 33. There is an ongoing debate about the reasons for the underrepresentation of women. The reasons vary from bias against women by male CEOs and male boards of directors to the assumption that women withdraw themselves from the workforce due to work/ life balance situations. The reasons are debatable. This book is for the career focused, intentionally strategic, female middle manager who wants to be equipped and ready when her opportunity arrives to propel her to the C-Suite. The strategies are focused on the preparation and selection process of C-Suite talent.
