Some men are haunted by the past. Nathaniel Caine is hunted by it. A chance meeting with a friend gets Caine an invitation to a meeting of the Tellers. This odd group of gentlemen collect, and of course tell, fantastic stories. One tale that night, of a huge wolf that slaughters people at will and evades all attempt at capture rings true for Caine and makes his blood run cold, for he faced such a beast a lifetime ago and knows its name...werewolf. Caine is no teller of tales, he is a man of action and bound to take up the hunt. That means leaving old friends and comfortable drawing rooms. It means strapping on his six-guns and riding back into the wilds of the West where he wandered for so many years. The trail leads to a dusty town on the verge of a range war between local cattlemen and a colony of sheepherders. An already tense situation Caine must navigate while trying to find the hidden killer. Doing so puts him at odds with the local ranchers, the religious leader of the sheep farmers, the law, and even a fellow werewolf hunter who is holding on to his sanity with one hand. As the werewolf keeps killing, the tension ramps up and the terror spreads to a flash point of fire and blood. A lifetime ago, Nathaniel Caine stopped a werewolf rampage. Can he face the old fears and the ghosts of the past and stay alive long enough to do it again?
