Nine-year-old Beatrix, a dreamer and an adventurer, while trying to save her cat, is carried away from the roof of her house by a huge cloud. The unusual journey brings Beatrix and her companions - Dina, the cat and Phoenix, the parrot - to a tiny Swiss town. Before long the girl discovers that some fifteen years ago her mother visited this same place and some unfortunate events - that Beatrix has never heard of before - had happened to her.
