Charlie Cooper is labeled a Defiant under the new Millstone regime. It's not long before he learns that Millstone's levels of Defiance are really a way to divide and control the population. It's bad enough that rationing is implemented, but when his young son's health is put in jeopardy, he is forced to take a stand. Angry and scared, Charlie vows to do whatever it takes to save his son's life, even if it means remaining defiant and facing harsh consequences - Nobody is safe from the watchful eye of Millstone's officials.
